“I tore my Achilles twice. I was shooting a music video and we were long boarding all day. I wanted one more take and right then and there it ruptured. The doctor said I could go on a boot or have surgery. So I went through with it. When that happened I hit a low point. I gained weight. I was eating like shit and going back to the bars. I became the dark cloud. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t sleep. 2 and a half years later, I was back in great shape, and my friends asked me to go hoop with them. We lost two games in a row and I didn’t want to lose. So the last game, I kept hustling. Then at the end of the game, I went up for a rebound, and came down and ruptured my other Achilles. At age 28, I tore two Achilles tendons. I’ve learned how to walk three times in my life now. And It’s a constant struggle. Even when I work it out now, I get fatigued so fast but my balance is pretty good. Not only is it an awesome thing to see your body change when you stick with it, it gives you the confidence you need and the feeling of fulfillment. For me, I used to smoke and whatever, and I was relaxed and cool. But people forget you can get the same high from working out and at the same time you feel good about yourself looking in the mirror and seeing how you’ve grown.”
