“After college, I took 2 years off from playing basketball. I got my big boy job, because that seemed to be what the standard was. I did that for almost 2 years and I enjoyed it, but the whole desk job wasn’t for me. I found myself drinking coffee at the copy machine talking about stuff I didn’t feel like I fit in with. It wasn’t for me yet. I still had an appetite for high level basketball. So, I got serious about it. I got back into it. There were some workouts with minor league teams in Illinois that popped up, so I went to one of those. I had a good workout and I made the team. I played there for a season and then I got a call from Australia, and I played a season there. When I was playing in Australia, I was constantly injured. That was a tough year for me. When I got there, I busted my knee cap, came back, had two good games, but then got hurt again from a knee to knee collision. Last season, I played in Italy. I had a much bigger role. I didn’t have any injuries or problems. I don’t really adjust the way I play, but I think adjusting my workouts and eating healthier has really helped. For me, I just go out there like I’m a little kid, putting my heart out there and giving it my all. My team in Italy has asked me to come back. I’ve had a few teams in Germany talk to me and one in Spain. I want to keep playing, but first I’m going to assess my life over here in the states and local initiatives I have going on. If it doesn’t happen, I really like the coaching/training aspect of basketball. We will see what happens. I’m definitely working out as if I’m going to keep playing. It’s crazy to think that I’m almost 30 years old and I still get to play the game.”
