“Running is my main source of exercise. I started running in 5th grade. I ran track in high school. I ran cross country in college. I ended up running 12 marathons. I even ran the Boston Marathon 4 times, which was so fun. It’s run on Patriot’s Day, and they estimate that more than 2 million people watch the race, so when you’re running, people are constantly cheering you on. It’s amazing. My wife and I met running. She was a marathoner too. We both ran all the time, but over the years, I gradually ran less and less. The interesting thing, is she still runs everyday. She runs because she loves running. I always ran to compete, and when competitions went away, it became more of a chore for me. I laugh sometimes, because now, I say I used to run to compete, then I ran to stay in shape and now I run to stay alive. 25 years ago, when I was competing, I would’ve been gassed at the idea of walking during a run. Now, if I want to walk, I’ll walk. It’s more important for me just to get out and do it. I do think the key to aging is you have to keep moving. When I go out for a run, I come back to my desk and say man, I feel great. Then, I’m going why don’t I do this more often? I really would like to get back into running more. What I need to do is set a goal, then develop a plan and then execute the plan.”
