“Six months ago, I was probably in the worst place I’ve ever been mentally. I haven’t gone to school, and I just didn’t know what I wanted to do. I put all my eggs in the band basket, but that can be disheartening at times. And, it was winter. Things weren’t going how I wanted them to. I was biking everyday, but I didn’t have a car so it was out of necessity. Had I not done that, I would’ve been in an even darker place. It was nice to be forced to get fresh air. Thankfully, the smallest thing can bring so much perspective. In May, I got this great new job and have a sustainable income now. I have an awesome girlfriend and a great family. Life has really fallen into place recently. My band is going back on tour this Fall. I think now that I have some of my other life pieces put into place, and I have a band mate that is all about promoting a healthy lifestyle, it will be easier for me. I see my band mate eating cauliflower and carrots, and I feel almost shameful for sitting up in front eating Doritos. I think having him show me the ropes a little bit, will help a lot. I feel amazing after a workout. Biking through the winter was the most physically challenging thing I’ve done in a while, but I loved it. I know how important taking care of my health is. I just need to make sure I make it a priority. Mentally I’m in the best place I’ve been. I think that’s going to allow me to focus on the physical side and become a healthier person in general.”
