“I’ve always wanted to be a surrogate and now I am. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, especially after having my own children. They’re my world and I couldn’t imagine being told I couldn’t have them. I met the parents I am the surrogate for on FaceTime. For the actual transfer, we went to New York. We went a week early and spent 4 days with them. It was amazing. They’re such great people. She’s tried to have a baby for 13 years. She tried IVF 7 times and all of them failed. The very last IVF she did, she had a miscarriage. She got really sick, so her husband said enough is enough, this is not safe for you or a baby. She’s going to be such a great mom and he’s going to be such a great dad. They’re very deserving. Even them coming here and meeting my kids and interacting with them was amazing. I’m 20 weeks along. The baby is due December 23rd. It’s a boy. It’s already like an aunty love. I love that I’m helping give him life. They already have a little journal they’ve started with pictures of all of us in New York and arm bands from the transfer. They have a special baby book for this journey. He will know that I carried him. They want to fly us out there for his 1st birthday. This experience has been perfect. Having kids and going through labor was so easy for me. I took it for granted. I wanted to have a baby, and it happened. Now knowing that someone struggled, failed, and cried for 13 years, has made me appreciate how easy I had it. I just feel so lucky that I am healthy enough and able to do this for them. Having my own kids has changed everything for the better in my own life, and I want this couple to experience the same.”
