Lee & Sue

“When we started dating, I was 77 and Lee was 79. We both said maybe we can get 10 years together. Well, 6 are gone already and we want more. We just seem to have a lot of common interests. We never argue. We are always listening to each other and it seems like we are never short on things to talk about. We have wonderful communication. There was a lot to talk about. To begin with, we were mainly just sharing grief. She likes to talk. I like to talk. It was just a natural thing. We have traveled from sea to sea, north to south. We’ve been just about everywhere. We love it. There’s very seldom a day where we don’t talk. Most days we see each other, or go out to dinner, or he will just stop in to say hello. We’ve known each other since 1970, so we really know each other’s families. Our children were friends and now our grandkids are becoming friends. It’s nice to lean on each other and talk about what’s going on with our families. There is great affection between the two of us. A natural companionship. We are so blessed in our young, old age. It’s more than we would have ever thought. It’s wonderful. At 85, you can feel pretty young. We aren’t going to act old. We just want to keep going. We have found that there are other ways of having a healthy lifestyle without walking, biking, and eating only vegan food, especially at our age. We do it by faith, gratitude, love, laughter, and friendships.”
